37 km from the castle, Insenborn offers you a trip aboard its solar boat to discover the flora and fauna in and around the Haute-Sûre. An exciting tour of 2 hours.

Beaufort & its castle

Situated 45km from Urspelt Castle, the old castle of Beaufort was built in four periods.

The oldest part of the castle dates from the beginning of the 11th century. It was a modest square-shaped fortress on a massive rock. It was surrounded by a wide moat and a second wall facing the valley.

The old castle was gradually abandoned and replaced by the Renaissance castle of Beaufort.

Since its construction in 1649, the Renaissance castle has, fortunately, never suffered any major damage, except for a few minor additions and alterations over the past centuries.

It is the work of a great Luxembourgish architect, Jean Baron de Beck, born in 1588.
